Lamp Makeover With Rice Paper, Paint and Silk Flowers.
A plain white lamp and shade. In my opinion, the best way to start a project! This lamp is clean ad needs no repairs. It was an inexpensive purchase I made a few years ago for our extra bedroom. I had been in the process of painting and throwing the room together quickly and wasn’t sure in what direction I wanted to go. So I figured buying a plain lamp and shade would enable me to change it into exactly what I wanted when the time came. Fast forward to the present…I found a different lamp for our spare room (one that definitely needs to be made over). So this…

Wall Plaque Made over With Rice Paper And Hooks
Spring is around the corner and I assembled another wall plaque for a relative who will be setting up a new home space for themselves. This one is very different then the other one I just blogged about. The rice paper I used screams summer/spring and nice weather. It has a beautiful floral that includes tree branches, a birdcage and a bird outside the cage. I used another of the wood plaques I had purchased from the craft store that already had the string to hang it with attached. This is a very light piece of wood so the string alone was sufficient. I gave the surface a nice smooth…

Decoupaged Wall Plaque With Cheshire Cat Paper
We have a lot birthdays in my family concentrated in the beginning of the year. They start off on January first and run through March. Gifts can be tricky at anytime but with so many on the heels of Christmas it often causes me to have a creative block. This year I was graced with inspiration when I had come across these wood plaques at the craft store. YAY! Two of my, now adult nieces, are settling into new spaces and my first thought is organization. I love to give functional decor. I began with this wood plaque I had gotten from the craft store for $6.99. There is a…

Pretty Bottle Decoupaged With Vintage Stamperia Rice Paper And Paint
I’m not always sure in what direction to take a project when I first begin, but this bottle was giving me a vintage vibe. Before starting I gave it a coat of primer to see if it would help the acrylic paint stick to the glass surface. I then moved on to tis Folk Art white paint. It is pictured above with my new brush especially made for this paint, which I love. But I needed very a thick layers of paint to cover the green so I ended up applying two coats with a sponge. This is one of the beautiful sheets of Stamperia rice paper I recently purchased.…

Charming Pickle Jar Transformed With Rice Paper And Paint
Hello and welcome! I’m going to show you how I changed this pickle jar from this⇑ To this⇓:) All the supplies I used I already had except for the image used. It is rice paper from Stamperia that I have recently purchased through the mail. The picture came on a sheet that included seven other winter images at $1.99 a sheet. I definitely didn’t break the bank on this one. After the jar was cleaned with soap and water , I cleaned the outside with alcohol and a cotton pad to get rid of any greasy residue. I gave the jar and the lid two coats of white acrylic paint…

Decoupaged Wine Bottle Using Christmas Cards. Project #3.
I love the way all three of my Christmas card projects turned out. I think the shape of this bottle is especially suited to the shape of the picture. To remove some of the layers of paper off the back of the card, I misted the back of the card with water, then I peeled some of the layers off starting from one of the corners. After that I gently rubbed my finger back and forth over the back of the card to roll off more of the paper. I cleaned off the outside of the bottle with alcohol. Once dried I coated the area of the bottle where the…

Maple Syrup Bottle Turned Into Winter Decor With A Holiday Card
The handle on these maple syrup bottles are so cute. I’ve thrown to many of these into the recycling bin. This is project #2 using pictures from the front of holiday cards. I have a previous blog explaining how I take a lot of the backing off the front cover of the holiday cards I used for these projects. I like to spray the back with water, let it soak in for 2-3 minutes then peel what I can get off by lifting from the corners. The rest usually requires me to rub the back of the picture gently with my finger to remove the excess. I cleaned the outside…
