Pretty Bottle Decoupaged With Vintage Stamperia Rice Paper And Paint

I’m not always sure in what direction to take a project when I first begin, but this bottle was giving me a vintage vibe.  Before starting I gave it a coat of primer to see if it would help the acrylic paint stick to the glass surface.

I then moved on to tis Folk Art white paint. It is pictured above with my new brush especially made for this paint, which I love. But I needed very a thick layers of paint to cover the green so I ended up applying two coats with a sponge.

This is one of the beautiful sheets of Stamperia rice paper I recently purchased.

After choosing my image, I repainted the bottle in a custom green I mixed using a dark green and a brown acrylic paint. This green complemented the picture much better. I attached the image using Mod Podge. I then gave the entire picture another coat of the glue and let it dry completely.

To achieve the vintage appearance I wanted I first dry brushed the bottle using metallic gold. I then came in with dark brown and very sparingly dry brushed the rounded edges of the bottle and then concentrated it a bit more at the the base. I also tried my hand at blending the colors in spots.

To enhance the picture I used liquid pearls. This Ranger brand is the one that is most available at my local craft stores.

I placed tiny pearl drops around the picture and a thicker  border using little swiping motions around the outer border. I love the life it gave to the image!

To finish I sealed the piece with two coats of Minwax Polycrylic.

I loved this finished project. Dry brushing works wonders when your going for an antiqued effect.
