Jelly Jar Recycled into a Votive Candle Holder
In keeping with the Spring themed projects, I created a votive candle holder to pair alongside my previous blog project; A Spring Inspired Butterfly Garland. Both were created using pretty floral napkins I purchased from Etsy. The decoupage technique I used on this project is perfect to apply to any container you want to decorate but still want it to be somewhat translucent for candlelight to show through. Any smaller jar will do when creating a holder for a votive candle. I had this small jelly jar I chose to use from my stash. I really like the size and weight of the glass. I cleaned it very well using…

Dry Orange Slices In the Oven/Rustic Addition For Autumn And Winter Home Decor
I love home decor that includes natural elements. In the past I’ve strung popcorn, used acorns, leaves, twigs, birch bark and cinnamon sticks. Dried orange slices are also very popular and super easy! I started by slicing two oranges 1/4″ thick. Try to make them as even as possible and placed them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. I had a couple that I knew were cut to thin but I left them on the tray anyway. I warmed my oven to 325 degrees and put the oranges in for one hour. After the hour was I flipped the slices over and put the tray back in the…

Butterfly Vase/Painted and Decoupaged With Napkins
I love my napkin stash! I have quite a few of these and whenever I open my craft container they inspire me. I know I know they are just napkins but the picture makes me feel good:) To begin I washed this glass vase and wiped any excess oil from the outside with alcohol on a cotton ball. I painted the outside of my vase with two coats of chalk craft paint using a small foam brush. I mixed colors to try and closer match the background color of the napkins. It ended up being an earthy yellow after adding a small amount of a sandy beige. To prepare the…

Easy Decoupaged Glass Bowl
People often offer me old vases or various glass vessels to add to my craft stash. I find decoupage to be relaxing and I love to make one of a kind gifts for people especially around the holidays and that time is fast approaching. The materials I used to make this one of a kind vase are super easy to come by. This is the glass container I used for this project. Almost any smooth glass surfaced container will work when doing a decoupage project. The key is to make sure if you’re getting it second hand make the surface isn’t chipped or damaged. As luck would have it I…

Creating Pumpkins Using Fleece and Adding Natural Stems/Easy Sewing Project
I love decorations that have texture and fabric pumpkins give you endless options:) I made three of these in less then an hour. You can use anything you have available such as old sweaters, flannel shirts, denim, scarves, blankets, towels, pillow cases and the list goes on. This is so much fun! These pumpkins came from a $5.00 buffalo check fleece throw I came across at Dollar General. It wasn’t something I was looking for but inspiration struck when I saw it and for that price I knew I would be able to create a few pumpkins along with a seasonal pillow. Score:) Besides your fabric of choice you will…
