Lamp Makeover With Rice Paper, Paint and Silk Flowers.
A plain white lamp and shade. In my opinion, the best way to start a project! This lamp is clean ad needs no repairs. It was an inexpensive purchase I made a few years ago for our extra bedroom. I had been in the process of painting and throwing the room together quickly and wasn’t sure in what direction I wanted to go. So I figured buying a plain lamp and shade would enable me to change it into exactly what I wanted when the time came. Fast forward to the present…I found a different lamp for our spare room (one that definitely needs to be made over). So this…

Decoupage With A Holiday Card/Make A Beautiful Gift Out Of A Jelly Jar
My previous blog explained how I obtained some of the images I liked from the front of holiday cards I had received this past Christmas. The above image was off of one of those pretty cards. A quick refresh: I spritzed the back of the card with water and let it soak in for 2-3 minutes. Then I peeled and rubbed much of the extra layers of paper off the back of the image. This is the jar I used from my stash. After washing the jar and cleaning the outside with alcohol, I gave it two coats of white acrylic paint. The paint said it was good on all…

Upcycling A Foam Pumpkin With Paint And Pretty Fall Silk Flowers.
So this foam pumpkin was in rough shape when I unpacked my Autumn bin this season. But I really like the size and since I don’t like throwing anything out I decided to take a stab at making it over. The paint was bubbled and coming off in random sections so I chipped off as much as I could easily get off and left the remainder alone. To start I pulled out a white and gold acrylic craft paints and mixed them 50/50 so my base color wouldn’t be stark white or to light. So I thought. As I painted I felt the color was still going to be lighter…

Dresser Set Makeover with Kilz Chalk Paint
Yes this is a dresser set makeover. You only see this one pictured due to the size of the room I’m working in. This set includes this highboy, a women’s dresser which is low and long and includes a large mirror and a nightstand. The set is in very good condition and has been used in our house for years. I decided to makeover our master bedroom and we found our two dressers that we know have in our room on Facebook Marketplace. We both wanted bigger dressers so I took the opportunity to make this set over in hopes to sell it. Thankfully no major cleaning was needed.…

Our Thrifted Dresser Painted with Kilz Paint/Finished with Behr Wax
I go through waves of scoring great Facebook Marketplace items. It’s definitely the safest way to “garage sale shop” during this pandemic. Thankfully there are still great finds out there. This guy was $75.00 and in great shape for being an antique. The missing hardware on the front of the three large drawers was included and undamaged. There were no bad odors to deal with and all the drawers slide in and out easily. Off to a good start:) The only thing I didn’t care for was the top piece screwed into the back of the dresser. It was a design element neither my husband nor I cared for…

Thrifted Mirrors From FB Marketplace/Used On Our Bedroom Wall
The nightstands aren’t matching but the mirrors are up doing their job brightening up the bedroom. They’re from Facebook Marketplace and serve as the decorative wall moldings that this room lacks. Making this room brighter was the goal and mirrors can be an easy fix. Below is the original picture as advertised. At first they looked very plain, I was just happy I had found two large matching mirrors that would fit the space. But when I went to see them in person, they had a pretty sunburst type of carving at the top and were very solid. I felt $40.00 for the two was a great deal. No repairs…

Thrifted Dresser With Mirror Painted With Chalk Paint/Polycrylic Topcoat
Here is how I found her on Facebook Marketplace. Not bad. Even better was the size and condition. I had been searching for a dresser for so long and boom. As soon as this popped up I knew I had to have it. Unfortunately she was spoken for, but I made the girl promise to contact me if the deal fell through. As luck would have it, the deal fell through:) After removing all the hardware, I vacuumed and thoroughly cleaned this piece with a mixture of vinegar, water and dish soap. I then let the drawers sit in the sun for a short while just to air out a…
