Easy Ways To Keep Holiday Decorations Safe And Organized.
We love the holidays and personally I wouldn’t mind leaving the decorations up for just a bit longer. The twinkling lights give our home so much warmth and coziness. It makes me sad to see it go. Just look how upsetting Bella finds it:( The things we have hold so many memories and the majority of it I use over and over again every year. All our things are stored in our basement and its not ideal. We live in the northeast and deal with flooding during power outages and unwanted critters for sure. I’ve managed to keep our things safe for years by taking a few extra steps that,…

Updating Couch Cushion Covers/Minimal Sewing Skill Required
I enjoy sewing and have experience making things like valances and envelope pillow covers. I love looking at all the fabrics and textures available when beginning a project. All the beautiful choices can be overwhelming! Recently I was lucky enough to score a beautiful couch at a nearby yard sale. The only thing I didn’t care for was the color. That I changed to more my liking with fabric dye. If you would like to see how I did this you can find the method and products in a previous blog I recently wrote. The couch that is the subject in this blog was still a very good piece of…

Holly Leaf Coasters/Decoupaged Using Napkins
I found these unfinished wooden coasters in Hobby Lobby. They were 30 percent off of the original price of $4.99 so I couldn’t pass them up! I began by applying 2 thick coats of white craft paint. I covered the tops and the four sides. I left the bottom portion with the feet bare. I pulled some festive napkins from my stash and found the design on them fit the coasters nicely. I fit the images on to the blocks and cut a square portion of the napkin out that was a bit bigger then the size of the square. I removed the back layer of the napkin ad using…

Easy Decoupaged Glass Bowl
People often offer me old vases or various glass vessels to add to my craft stash. I find decoupage to be relaxing and I love to make one of a kind gifts for people especially around the holidays and that time is fast approaching. The materials I used to make this one of a kind vase are super easy to come by. This is the glass container I used for this project. Almost any smooth glass surfaced container will work when doing a decoupage project. The key is to make sure if you’re getting it second hand make the surface isn’t chipped or damaged. As luck would have it I…

Creating A Small Patio With Pavers For Our Grill/Easy DIY Yard Project
Pallets are useful around the yard but the new grill and yard updates we had planned definitely warranted something more. The porch is small and needs to be replaced so relocating the grill in front of the chimney seemed to be the best option. I also like it there because of the heat it puts off. I have several ideas where these pallets could be put to better use. This is a look at the back of my home approximately halfway down the yard. The rocks outlining the picnic table in the foreground will, hopefully, soon become our outdoor pea stone patio. That will be another blog. When we went…
